scientific laws is some fundamental statement that applies to everything. gravity is a law. thermodynamics has four laws, numbered from 0 to 3. some guy named ohm has a law. too bad in legal law it depends on how you approach the problem. for example, a pharmaceutical company wants to advertise their new product. they make a lot of false unjustified claims. they get in trouble for putting the public in danger. the pharmaceutical company fights back saying they have the first amendment right of free speech. then argue argue argue (and lots of money) to find out which law applies better. so in the end, these laws just become useful and true on a case-by-case basis. oh well.
