oncology attending physician said there’s two kinds of oncologists. one kind builds a wall and becomes sarcastic at everything and doesn’t care anymore. the other kind goes to therapy.

patient with lymphoma, relapsed after tandem auto/allo transplant. lymphoma invading heart, patient coded. proceed to do chemo to shrink chemo, but left ventricular ejection fraction < 25% now. can’t hydrate for cisplatin. decide to give cytarabine first and use cytarabine as hydration for cisplatin.

“sigh, sigh, sigh” and lots of headshaking, then “good job.” so confused.
