wordpress has been telling me version 3.0.1 is available for many weeks now. i’m using 2.9.1. such a huge difference. but i don’t want to upgrade. because all i do is blog. i don’t even use tags or comments or anything. they make all these updates and fancy things. if i update, it just takes up space and possibly screws up things. i like old versions. i was using utorrent for perfectly legitimate uses and suddenly there was an upgrade. so i upgraded. turns out there was a bug so one website i used actually banned that new version. i had to downgrade back to my original old version and then a torrent that i was running originally suddenly stopped working. ugh.

The Weepies – Be My Thrill

Be my thrill, my little white pill, my unpaid bill, the one who will
Be my love, my little grey dove, my push and my shove, my heaven above

And we tumble down like Jack and Jill, and I miss all of the joy you kill
But I love you still, be my thrill

Be my one, my day in the sun, my little pop gun, the best thing I’ve done
Be my what, my open and shut, my everything but, my little hot slut

And we tumble down like Jack and Jill, and I miss all of the joy you kill
But I love you still, be my thrill

And every morning is like the one before
And everybody needs someone to adore
I’m counting on you
Oh baby say you will
Oh baby be my thrill

Be my youth, my kissing booth, my little sweet tooth, my beauty and truth
Be my thrill, my little white pill, my wait up until, the one who will

And we tumble down like Jack and Jill, and I miss all of the joy you kill
But I love you still, be my thrill

And we tumble down like Jack and Jill, and I miss all of the joy you kill
But I love you still, be my thrill

Yeah I love you still, be my thrill

you’d think that after writing a blog for 8 years, i would be great at expressing myself. unfortunately i think it just made me worse.

one thing you want to say to one person right now:
1. you are good. do not worry about that.

unrelated.
i just did electroporation on four samples. turns out i only have 2 LB plates. and i need 2 LB plates for each sample. it’s better to plan ahead of time.

sometimes they use a thiazide diuretic to treat diabetes insipidis (a disease where you pee too much.) it’s weird that a drug that makes you pee can stop making you pee. but the mechanism for that happening is quite beautiful.

pretzels. they taste good. dry mouth though. xerostomia.

unrelated.
h1n1 vaccine linked to narcolepsy (but not really proven, just case studies). too bad h1n1 vaccine is included in all the flu vaccines this year. we’re going to have a lot of people falling asleep randomly now. along with all the autism people claim flu vaccines cause.

unrelated edit.
turns out i only have 1 LB plate. apparently one was already growing some black-colored organism. contamination is amazing. a good hardy specimen. able to grow in 4 degrees C. able to grow in the presence of ampicillin. very strong indeed. off to the trash you go.

a flaming dr pepper does not taste like a dr pepper at all! a friend showed me a video of an alcoholic drink called a flaming dr pepper. you take a shot glass and fill 2/3 with amaretto. the rest of the shot glass is 151 proof bacardi rum. (apparently the highest alcohol percentage you can buy in california.) it’s carefully poured in so there is two layers. since the top layer of 151 proof has so much alcohol, it burns quite easily. (the cap is a flame arrester also. i used a lighter over the fumes and it lit on fire.) great. anyway, you light the shot glass on fire. then drop it in a half glass of beer and drink it all. it’s supposed to taste like dr pepper. well. IT DOESN’T! I AM SO DISAPPOINTED. i spent so much money to try this experiment and i get a kind of almond flavored drink that makes me feel heavy and unable to think! (and i have to pee a lot too.) ugh. i also tried to blow fire with the bacardi 151. i got a small fireball thing, but i guess i didn’t blow hard enough so maybe the flame ran back into my mouth. it burned. maybe that was the alcohol. i don’t really know. anyway, i watched kick ass while i tried to detox.

it’s pretty cool. i like the movie. it was pretty funny, but that might have been some of the alcohol. it was a nice super hero movie, i guess.

…and i don’t really know what else to say. there were a lot of pauses to go to the bathroom. enjoyable. and i can’t think. like i said. ugh. i don’t like this feeling. and it didn’t even taste like dr pepper.

i watched “mad detective” and johnnie to and wai ka-fai. i like this duo of directors. they usually make great movies together. but when johnnie to makes movies by himself, they are just okay. so i’m glad wai ka-fai worked on this one. it’s about a schizophrenic detective that is trying to solve a case about murder. and it’s really interesting. they really made the movie like stepping into an insane mind. the guy apparently can see people’s personalities so there’s like a collective bunch of personalities for each person. one guy had 7 personalities, so they had to use 8 actors for him. well, it was a nice mystery, but it didn’t really have anything logical to solve the case. it was just his crazy mind thinking of crazy things and it turned out to be right. and i guess there’s some analysis of human personalities and psychology and stuff. but that isn’t logical. still good though.

i am still drinking my morning tea right now. it’s almost 11. woke up at 8 and i’m still drinking. i just keep refilling hot water and the water still seems to turn brown. so there must be tea. when i drink tea, i urinate a lot. that’s because caffeine is a diuretic. and i guess because i’m drinking water, so i need to balance my body and get rid of the excess. so i was wondering if the diuretic effect of caffeine is enough to dehydrate me. tea is in water, so the diuretic effect should be balanced out by the water replacement. assuming a person is already at water equilibrium, i wonder what concentration of caffeine is required to remove water. maybe the caffeine’s diuretic effect can only remove up to the excess water in the tea. so net loss is zero. or is it possible to drink tea and become dehydrated. i don’t know. it would be a good experiment to attempt. of course, kidney clearance would have to be adjusted for. age. and tea type. and a lot of variables.

after working in a pharmacy for almost a year, i have seen a lot of people pay by debit card. every time they pay, they have to put in a pin number ([personal identification number number]sorry, redundant acronym syndrome. RAS syndrome.) well, i have seen a lot of numbers (not intentionally of course) and many are similar (some are the same as mine!). i always wanted to record all the ones i see and run some simple statistical tests about which numbers are more common. and also map them out on a number pad and see how position effects the choices of these important numbers. but that would involve me intentionally seeing people’s pin. and that is probably illegal. hm.
