i cooked salmon today. when i bought the filet, one side had skin, but it was on the covered side, so i was wondering if i needed to descale the fish. i tried to imagine a salmon and it seemed really smooth and sleek. maybe it didn’t have scales. catfish don’t have scales. some other fish that we consume don’t have scales either. well, turns out salmon have scales. and now i have scales everywhere from scratching at the fish. i think it tastes pretty good though. well, i looked up scaleless fish and apparently jewish people aren’t allowed to eat scaleless fish. which is kind of problematic based on scientific definition. some fish have tiny scales that are negligible and some fish have scales that can’t be removed. so i think the general consensus is to eat fish that have scales that can be removed without damaging the skin.

during one of the quizzes, the professor said “please put everything away. you only need pencil and rubbers.”

… oh, the british. it’s funny because professor is from china. they teach british english there. when i was in china, i saw a bunch of extra u’s in words.

well, i think it’s interesting how fast languages can diverge. america has only been separated for over 200 years and the accent and vocabulary is already quite different. actually, even within america there’s already a lot of accent diverging. so much that arizona wants to kill off english teachers that have accents. could be good if it made everyone speak good proper english (whatever that is. need to define it first.), but language is always changing, so it might not be effective anyway. as long as people can understand each other. accents are not too bad. internet talk changes too fast. that is hard to keep up with. off of the internet for a week and a million memes have spread and suddenly there’s new acronyms and everything.

there’s not much to say. i’ve been really busy for some reason. go to school. go to research lab. go to work. come back, too lazy. no time to make any observations to comment about in this blog. midterms are coming up soon, they are actually the same time most other schools have their finals. then we keep going into the summer. when i first started, i thought this nonstop speed schooling would be nice and i could just study hardcore for 3 years. but i guess not. well, maybe. but people are graduating and having summer and being at home, but i cannot be at home. so if i isolated myself more, it would be easier, i guess. and this lack of summer also kind of ruins any possibility of summer internships. because there is no summer. so i just school. and end up unexperienced. i guess the saved year is just used to make up that lack of experience. so i have to pile everything on the same time. therefore time is gone. there’s a few things i would like to do, but i guess i have to put them off. prioritize, i guess. just keep pushing. things will fall into place. unless there’s no gravity, then that would be a problem. have to exert all this extra work to put everything in the right place. too bad i don’t know where things go. should figure that out first. but somehow other things always prioritize over that. so i just keep going, but never figure out where i am going. papaya mango.

the first time i saw this slide, i read “the lead compound” as “the lead compound”. so i was looking for Pb in the chemical structure. i looked for a long time, then i realized it was “the lead compound”. it’s just pronounced differently.
